More Denial

lemmings

The ship that
could not sink
went down with
a heavy load
all the while
people saying
it could never happen.

We hide in denial
unwilling to face
what is happening
parties, schedules
overloaded, minds
dulled with distractions
calamity obscured
by the veil of denial
we’re running toward
destruction if we
do not change direction
lemmings drowning
in a sea of denial.
