Bug Value

Of what value is one insect when
billions exist? How carelessly we
snuff the existence of these tiny
bits of life: one ant, one worm,
one mosquito, a fly, a roach.

We label plants “weeds” and dump
harsh chemicals on them, also
killing everything around them.
At what point does life become
precious when we even slaughter
children in wars and famines caused
by greed? Whose life has value —
yours, mine, but not theirs?

  1. I think like this all the time……we can work while respecting their presence but there is a section rather a majority which dont care abt these “things”. Humans have endangered even the toughest of mammals, how then can poor little creature have a chance? It just saddens me.

  2. Yes. This is so true.

This demonstrates how we as humans naturally tend to sympathize with those that look more like us. Very few people ever share a bit of sympathy for insects, just as we worry less about cultures different from ours, in other parts of the world. We are “nationalistic” in more ways than one.

    Sad but true.

What would happen if there were a great change in the world? A change of extraterrestrial proportions?
