World Without End

What if there is no end?
Species become extinct
with cycled regularity
while new life-forms
appear, too.

Is it time for man to cease?
We’ve long passed the norm.
Shall we follow the dinosaurs
leave this earth to new beings
who live their time, then go?

What becomes of obsolete life
is its energy reabsorbed?
Does it reappear
in a different form?

Heaven is getting crowded
hell overflows, too.
We may need to change
the story which limits
the Divine, anyway.

Universes are expanding
into the Great Beyond
which has no end.
Perhaps life just continues
in kaleidoscope patterns
ceaselessly sifting
forever more, amen.
