A basket in the reeds
floating, rocking
carrying life to
safety, to she who loves
this precious child
as if its her own
Animals adopting
the young of another species
showing us love
can cross borders
when our hearts are open.
Love knows no differences
its only barriers
are indifference, hate and fear.
Remove these and watch
love flood the land
bringing peace to all
who open their hearts
to receive.
