The Lesson

There is always a lesson
to be learned in all
we experience.
Life is a school.
Why? you ask.
I don’t know
one of many things
I do not understand.

Yet I’ve come to see
that as a student of life
I am not a victim
of all the difficult things
that come my way.

I am a student
asking, “what can I learn
from this?”
