Old Fashioned Charm

A pretty crutsey
old fashioned charm
lace hankies, scented love letters
written by hand
wild daisies, fresh strawberries
warmed by the sun
traded for smartphones
messages of abbreviated words
lives too busy
for walks in the woods
with those we love.

I don’t have a smartphone
or a TV, no microwave
crockpot, nary a video game.
What I do have
is serenity, time to enjoy
what God so freely gives
time to be who I am
meant to be.
