Seeds of Life

Why do trees produce
so many seeds–countless
numbers of them fall to
the ground every year.

A few sprout and become
trees, others proving food
for many, still others
create compost to replenish
the earth. Nothing is wasted.

So it is with us. Our actions
may not always bear the fruit
of our dreams, but rather
become food for other possibilities
or provide the base
for future growth.

Do not let regret blind you
to the lessons of life.
There are no mistakes–
just opportunities for
us to become all we
are meant to be.

  1. A few weeks ago, I adopted the idea of “blessing” my weeds as I transported them to the compost pile…thanking them for providing energy for another batch of loamy goodness. (It just felt wrong to rip them out of the ground and toss them away as if they were unwanted!)

    • I love this idea because weeds are plants of Mother Nature’s planning. I have also learned to “cultivate” some weeds and to enjoy what they have to offer. They are hardy, easy to grow and often quite lovely. Love your idea of honoring them. Now that I choose to live inside of the floresta, I do not cultivate or garden anything but some mint for tea. Instead, I enjoy the abundance of the floresta and let Mother Nature do the work. If I feel the urge to garden, I gather a few seeds from the stronger trees that I enjoy that have fruit or flowers and sprout them, planting them in the floresta when they are ready. Thanks for sharing your beautiful idea. hugs, pat

    • Took a long time for me to really understand the idea that nothing is wasted. I struggled with it and the concept of a Divine Plan, yet it makes sense to me on many levels. Besides, I figure that even if I am wrong, it is a much more fulfilling and peaceful way to live. Thanks for commenting, Val. Always love hearing from you. hugs, pat

  2. Beautiful….. as I sit fretting as a mother who’s adult daughter has estranged her for the voices in her head that guides her now.
