My Enemy

Somehow the idea of having
an enemy makes me feel as
if I have somehow failed.
Perhaps if I had been kinder,
more patient, more generous,
this person would not want
to do me harm.

I have no control over another
person; what they think or do
is beyond me. Yet I can pray for
them. I can model loving behavior.
I can understand that they are where
they are and accept this with
a peaceful heart.

I find praying each day for someone
who is my “enemy” today, opens the
possibility of friendship tomorrow.

  1. There is much wisdom in this. If we pray for someone it gives us compassion for them. If we forgive someone they don’t have any power over us. Prayer and forgiveness.
