A Conscience

Why do we have a conscience
an awareness of our
beingness and connection
to others, a sense of life–
ours and others?
What is this inner voice
that pricks or praises us?

In every culture exists
evidence of man’s search,
his longing for answers
to his deepest questions:
Who am I?
Why am I here?
Is there a Universal Force
and, if so, what is my
relationship to it?
Am I connected to other
life and to what purpose?

What is evil, where did
it come from? Why am I
tempted by things I know
are not good for me or others?

On and on we ponder…but why?
Are we the only beings
who gnaw these bones?

  1. it is not enough to ask – one must pursue the quest through out life – not because the answer will enlighten you but because the process of questing will help you evolve.

  2. Ah, the eternal existential question…
