What Does She See?

What does my child see
when she looks at me;
do I model a life to aspire?
Does she learn honesty, kindness,
how to love when she watches me
throughout her life?

Do I stop to listen to her
when she wants to share
what she did today, or am I
preoccupied and don’t hear?
Does she feel honored and loved
by my interactions with her
or did I say or do
things that kill her joy,
and take her happiness away?

Dear Lord, help me to be
a model of Your love,
so that my daughter will learn
and become all that she was meant to be.

Although I don’t believe in living my life for others, I do believe in being a good model for my daughter. She is the only one that really matters.
