Razor’s Edge

Human tongue morphing with sharp knife

A spoken sentence
sharpened to a fine edge
cuts as surely
as a barber’s razor.

Guard your words, Sir
that they cast not even
a shadow of harm.

Words cannot be retrieved
like marble tossed
on the ground.
Sharp words wound
hearts that bear their
marks indefinitely.

If you cannot control
this viper tongue
then open not your mouth
for silence is the only cure
for he whose words
know not compassion.
