The Thirsty Fish

thirsty fish

I am but a thirsty fish
who drinks the ocean dry
then has no place to swim.

I eat the seeds of the papaya
thinking I can grow
a forest inside and
never again be hungry.

Don’t call me foolish
though I know its true.
I can’t get enough
of my Beloved.

Please be compassionate
with me for I am in love
and walk a crooked
line like a drunk
overflowing with wine
content to be helplessly
intoxicated having no need
for respectability.
