Statements of Absurdity

Statements of absurdity
are all around us
we call them “quotes”
pass them on FaceBook
promise them
tout them
but never, ever
challenge their veracity

Statements of absurdity
flow from the lips of politicians
we wave banners
call for marching bands
promises, deception, greed
platform planks built on lies
still we cast our vote
for he who had the biggest horn

How is it that
we are so gullible
eager to believe
afraid to say
“the Emperor has no clothes?”

Very interesting perspective with a good amount of truth.

However, I don’t know that your example holds up. My “emperor running around without their clothes” (negative) is someone else’s “nature lover” or “seriuosly mentally ill person”.

People are diverse and interpret and respond to messages in different ways. What is trite and meaningless for me make motivate you to change your world.

That said, I totally agree that we too often pass along vague and generic “feel-good” or motivational messages. Wisdom only works when you use it:)
