Don’t Chicken Out

rooster

Playground dreaded taunt:
“You’re a chicken!”
challenge of our bavery.
Do I have courage today
so many years since I
first heard this phrase?
Do I “practice what I preach,”
stand-up for what I believe?
Or deny three times
before the cock crows?

Do I say “no”to bullies
as I did back then, being
true to myself at all times?
Or do I crumble in the end,
chicken out, run away,
afraid to be who I am.

  1. I try to not chicken out-I try to practice what I teach. I stand up to bullies with wisdom. The challenge is to win hearts and make a friend.
