Blessings of Time

Roller skates clamped
to our shoes secured with
a key, broken sidewalks
skinned knees, kisses
that made the boo-boo
better, all day suckers,
grandmother’s apple pie

I take each sweet memory
out to savor again
grateful to have so many.
The others I’ve left behind
faded away, no longer
able to give me pain,
one of the blessings of time.
