Cock’s Crow

Cock crows announce the dawn,
sliver of moon, confetti of stars,
a stillness of anticipation,
like lovers who pause before a kiss.
What will this day bring?

Each day of life a precious gift.
One by one they come, then fade away.
Will I be happy today, sad, angry,
hungry, full, tired, filled with boundless energy?

A spectrum of feelings will
color my day, creating a rainbow
of vibrancy, rich and complete.
Would I live without even one?
Sadness shows me how much I care;
anger tells me, this I can not accept.
Hunger makes the simplest food a feast.
Jealously helps me see my fear
that no one will love me.
Fear brings me to the Divine.
Most important is Love, which
balances them all, heals, and
shows me all is one.

The rooster crows again and
I give thanks for whatever
the day may bring knowing
even a bad day is good
when one walks in
gratitude and love.

I loved this poem. The feeling it gives off is so cheery, and I love your language. “confetti of stars” 🙂 Nice job
