Mercy

We teach our children
about the limitless mercy of God,
but how do we practice mercy
in our own lives?
Are we quick to forgive,
or do we allow our anger
to form a wall of worms
rotting our hearts within,
blocking our forgiveness,
dousing our Light?

Are we merciful to ourselves,
kind, patient, understanding
that our struggles
will bring wisdom, peace, and love.

Mercy is the balm of life.
Grant mercy to all, starting with YOU!

Definitions of mercy: Grace gives us what we do not deserve; Mercy withholds what we do deserve.

Mercy is loving kindness.

Mercy is not simply the witholding of punishment, but it the act of giving help or having compassion.

Your last line certainly brings forth the definition of Mercy ~~

Verse: “Mercy is the balm of life. Grant mercy to all, starting with YOU!”

~~ and may we have the courage and grace to step into it and wear it constantly!
