On Bended Knees

These days I kneel
only in spirit
creaky knees
wobbled spine
touched by age
leaves me paying
my respect
mostly from the heart.

God loves old people
surely He does.
He bids us to rest
in the shade
sing praises
in seated comfort
for we have slain
our dragons
learned our lessons
hopefully
and now we rest
before our final
journey home.
