The Rose Bud

Unfolding, the rose bud
becomes a full bloom
filling the air with its fragrance
the garden with its bounty
then drops its petals
one by one
forms a rose hip
that flavors a cup of tea
for she who tends
the garden fair
completing its cycle
giving each step of the way.

Shall I aspire to be a rosebud?
Does my life reflect such splendor
such constant giving?
Rose bud in the garden
simple bloom, one of many
yet special in its own way.
