Word Play

Selling sails at the sea shore
word play
making rhymes
tongue twisters
metaphors
nonsense poem
exciting tales of old
all created with words
yet we often ignore
the power of words
to heal and harm

Think carefully before
you speak
will your words
delight or devastate
build up
or tear down?

Know the intent
of your heart
before you speak
or remain silent
and do no harm.

One Response to Word Play

  1. Nonsense rhymes don’t usually have such an obvious message of love. My mum always said to me, if you can’t find something nice to say, then say nothing. But she said lots of other things to me that I’ve tried to do as well. Sometimes it’s hard but other times it’s easy.
