God Loves You

Lament—passionate expression of sorrow
complaint—bitter unbelief in a benevolent God
distrust in God’s mercy.

How often we complain
do we not trust that all
is governed but our need
to grow in God’s love

It is not that we shouldn’t
feel our emotions, justified
or not, at this moment
they are what they are
real, authentic,
part of being human.

How we choose to act on them
is what is important.
Do we expect to feel joy
all the time?
Did we fail if we get angry
some great spiritual lesson?

Joy grows from a place
much deeper than emotion.
It comes from our innermost being
the very presence of God
joy transcends all other emotions.

Put away your complaints
Lament when you must
but most of all, know
God loves you
God loves you
and all that you experience
can help you grow
to love as beautifully as
God love you.

    Amen! Happy Easter, Pat.

Thanks, Jan. I spend today in quiet solitude inside the floresta. Soon I will re-enter the world as I leave for the US on the 27th of this month. Today I am reflecting on the 14 years I have spent here in Brazil as a volunteer. I have learned so much, been so blessed. Easter is a symbol of new beginnings, of life changes, always presenting us with new opportunities to grow. hugs, pat
