The Wretched and the Rich

Keep the wretched
with the wretched
they are where they belong.

Keep the rich
with the rich
where they tell themselves
they are more fortunate
and see not the selfish rot
of their souls.

Who is blessed in this life?
We vacillate between
the wretchedness of the poor
and the poverty of the rich.

For truly nothing of this world
has value for it all disappears
with time.
There is but one thing
that rings the bell of truth
only love lasts forever
spinning a golden thread
so fine.
