A Thousand Hooves

A thousand hooves running
echo the pounding of her heart
wrestling with how to get it all done
the relentless anxiety that she is failing
not good enough
festering with bitterness, resentment
always complaining
living tired
tired of living
ruptured hopes
vanished dreams
living a life of empty
nothingness, slipping
into madness.

Surely there’s more, she thinks
not knowing what’s missing
only that her soul is yearning
not understanding that this
sweet painful yearning is
God’s gift to help her wake-up
change her life, to seek, to find
who she is and why she is here.
