Hiss of a Lie

The serpent hisses the lie
“God does not love you
wars, death, hunger
He gives, not the flowery love
old men promise.”

Yet we know that it is men
who go to war
to plunder and kill
cut trees creating
deserts of hunger.

How can God love such
an evil as man
did he really make us
in His image?

The flawed Creator
a God of pure love
somehow the stories
never make sense
so I listen not
to the hissing snake
holy men who are not so holy
but rather to my heart
which reveals the truth
a God of Love
guiding us to
our greatness within.
