Fragile Love

Is love so fragile
thin glass easily shattered?

Your paper words burn to ashes
in the morning sun
covered with lies
that I’m the only one.

Then you come home smelling
of someone else’s perfume
speaking of love
which sounds dirty
coming from your mouth.

I will no longer speak of love
this earth knows it not
for it’s wrapped in expectation.

Our Father waits so patiently
for us to understand
that love does not take
only give.

Love does not possess
rather sets the other free.

Love does not stifle
nor demand.

Love has never told a lie
broken a promise
caused harm.

Love is pure
from the Divine.
All else is illusion
or something worse.
