What Friendship Needs

Friendship needs a high priority.
It’s not a trophy to put on a shelf
though it does need
to be shined regularly.

Friendship—the forever kind
needs to be nourished
fed well with forgiveness
compassion, and love.

Friendship needs laughter
to thrive
it is the oil that allows
hurt feeling and pride
to slide off wounded feathers.

Friendship is a treasure
to be honoured
a jewel so rare
as few adorn
our crown of life.

I place your friendship
that diamond full of facets
center front in the crown
that I never forget
its value in my life.
