Sharp Edges

Sometimes I get cross
with sharp edges
and worn patience
feeling unsteady
as if I might topple
into the pit of fear
I dance around each day.

Sometimes I speak unkind words
translated incorrectly from my heart
words that seem so tangled
on my tongue
so difficult to undo
the harm they cause.

At these times I will turn
to You to guide me back
to my loving self
Show me again, Lord
who I really am
for too often I forget.
