Today is his last day
tomorrow he dies of
legalized murder.
But will his death
bring closure, peace
to the family whose father
he killed?
He is repentant, so very sorry
yet feels he doesn’t
deserve forgiveness.
Is this true–there are times
when we cross the line
and cannot be forgiven?
Does God set limits
after which one can only
burn in hell?
This idea bothers me
that there are times
when we need not forgive
for after all, our own soul
is darkened by our holding
onto anger, resentment, hate.
Surely one can only heal
from a great sorrow
by the healing grace
of forgiveness.
Thought-provoking, heart-wrenching. Bottom line: forgive as you are forgiven; thank God for His Grace and extend it to others; Judge not – lest you be judged.
