An Open Door

door-knocker

I knock and wait
no one answers
I knock again
then again
I turn away
never seeing
the door is open

How is it that I see
with eyes that are
indifferent
blind to all
that is before me?

Selective seeing
these foolish eyes
skimming the surface
of life too afraid
of what might be revealed
if they really saw
what they choose
not to see.

You are right my friend. We see what we want to see. A amazing poem.
