Fair Weather Friends

In times of need
friends sometimes
fade away.
Does this mean
they weren’t really
a friend?

How betrayed
I have felt
cast aside by
someone I thought
really cared.

But slowly I’ve
come to realize
that friendships
shouldn’t have paybacks.
People give to the friendship
what they are able to give.
If I expect more
the fault is mine
for what I am saying
is, “I will love you, if…”

Pure love has not conditions
no judgments, nor promises.
Pure love is just that
Pure. Love.

Often friends come for a reason and a season. They don’t need to be forever to be genuine.

    Very well said Madam!

Nonetheless, what is it when you don’t have any friends?
