Silver Love

old-cuoples-6

My dream of a dashing young man
on fleet white horse has given
way to a gentle old man with a
twinkle in his eye, a romantic soul
who writes sonnets of love and
days of glory gone by.

Life’s experiences have imprinted
themselves on our bellies and faces
no longer firm, yet somehow made
beautiful by the love and wisdom age brings.

  1. Sweet and nostalgic, reminding us that love through the years grows richer and deeper.

Yes, you are right, Adan, but our cultures put more value on youth and often make those past the bloom of youth feel faded. Yet, I am far from faded and certainly more interesting and loving at this age than I was when I was young and narcissistic. Besides, being loving has nothing to do with age. There are self-centered people at all ages. And lovely people as well. hugs, pat

This reminds me of one of the most romantic moments that I witnessed

she was going in for surgery the next day
the family had gathered, in case
    dinner finished they dispersed

    he looked at her
she explained to him, how to make his coffee
    and he

    just looked at her
